BRAINTREE ACCOMMODATION I am an AirBnB regular user and have been a host. I felt the need to mention this property due to the host. ## 15 Trinovantian Way, Essex, England CM7 3JN There are many things to say about this property and I have had a lot of experience in being a guest and as a host in my time. ## The Host The host wanted to see my ID which I would be happy to show if the host had bothered to turn up and see the ID for himself. I have a fully verified account with AirBnB, who have copies of my Driving License and Passport. I have therefore in hundreds of visits never needed to show my ID. As I write this the new host I am now staying with highlighted I have 145 reviews keeping my 5 star rating. I am happy to show my ID however I am not happy to give a digital copy to someone who would not even meet me and is not a verified company working under a data protection policy. The host refused to let us in without a digital copy of my Driving License. I sent this to him with a small piece of tape across the last few digits of the DL number. This was not acceptable to the host even though I had sent full ID. The host then refused us entry threatening us with not letting us in. The host already has the money and it was not cheap. He said he could make our lives very awkward by not letting us in and sending us away - this was 7pm the night before we would have to leave for work about 7.30am. I finally sent my ID to gain access which he was reluctant to do. Indeed he insisted on telling us details on the phone of how to turn on the TV etc. We never watched the TV. Accused us of breaking things - Front door does not open meaning when we ordered a delivery it came to the front of the building - we opened the window - it was then discovered that the window does not lock. We let the host know he said “shouldn’t have opened it, it’s bolted and you shouldn’t must have forced it - you have broken it” When reporting the window not working, during the subsequent conversation, after accusing me of breaking the window, the host hung up while I was speaking. ### outcome This trip led to a work contract of 54 more days before the end of the year with between 21 and 33 days to be added for Jan to April. The property is less than 1/2 mile from one of the work places we go to with Braintree being central to the places we are working from Thaxted to Colchester to Chelmsford. Given some tea towels etc as below this property would have been excellent for our crew, one reason being that not all of us drive yet so walking distance to one workplace was seriously interesting to me as the boss. ### We will NOT return! - therefore at least £10,000 between now and xmas will go to another host. ## The House Generally this is an up market property however the details cause me to not want to return. - could not open front door, it is locked (fire hazard as no access to the front of the building) - front window in the office opening not just straight up - no warning it would come towards you and was nmot in its housing properly - forced to wait 20 mins outside - curtains - the lounge at front of the building has no curtains - the dining area at back of the building has no curtains - Juliette balcony bedroom on floor 1 - blind does not go lower than your knees which means that if you walk around the bedroom naked you can be seen from the street below - 3 beds with 3 people staying and 2 parking paces however only 1 key fob - all towels left in one room and only one small and one medium each - only one toilet roll per toilet even though there was a holder for spares - spindle for stairs second floor missing - a mother queried if this would be dangerous with kids - No tea towels in the property - No kitchen roll - some of the clean dishes were abviously washed by previous residents and just left out to dry - not put away with other dishes which seemed odd - No bath mats in any bathroom - my floor never dried - always a puddle - slip hazard - no where does it say the window shouldn’t be opened nor does it show that front door can not be opened. It clearly was already defective as there is no way our female could open something that he said was screwed shut. - Pegs - did not find any - Drying rack - did not find one - No chopping boards for meal prep - No oven trays for cooking - No tin foil or anything of the sort
